School Counseling, MS

Students completing all requirements including course requirements, 100 hours of introductory fieldwork, 600 hours of field experience/ internship following completion of coursework, and a passing score on the required Praxis exam for School Counseling, will be eligible for the Master of Science in School Counseling and may apply for recommendation for the Pupil Personnel Services Credential with a Specialization in School Counseling.

Additional Admissions Requirements


Admission standards for graduate studies at California Baptist University can be found in the admissions section of the University Catalog.  In addition, each candidate must meet the following requirements for this program:

  • Pass the state-administered California Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST) or equivalent by the second semester of enrollment
  • Verification of Certificate of Clearance granted prior to admission
  • Prerequisites (completed with grades of C or better)
    • General Psychology
    • Growth Development and Learning or Life Span Development or Educational Psychology
    • Abnormal Psychology or Personality Theory
