Nurse Educator Post-Masters Curriculum

Return to: College of Nursing
California Licensed Registered Nurses who hold a Master of Science degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation may complete the Nurse Educator curriculum. The student will be eligible to apply for national certification after successful completion of coursework, required clinical hours, and any other criteria deemed necessary by the appropriate certification agency.

Additional Admissions Requirements
Admission standards for graduate studies at California Baptist University can be found in the admissions section of the University Catalog. In addition, each candidate must meet the following requirements for this program:
- Additional Grade Point Average
- A minimum 3.0 GPA for admission
- Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the evaluated equivalency.
- An active, unencumbered California Registered Nursing (RN) License
- Professional resume that includes current practice as an RN
- Complete a successful interview with the College of Nursing
- Students are expected to work as a registered nurse during the program to gain clinical experience
- Prerequisites must be completed within the last five years (completed with a “B-” or better):
- NUR 555 Advanced Pathophysiology
- NUR 558 Advanced Pharmacology
- NUR 560 Advanced Assessment
- Required clearances (upon admission):
- CPR Certification
- Background Check Clearance
- Health Clearance
- Drug Testing
- Proof of Health Insurance
- Proof of Motor Vehicle Insurance
Program Requirements (16 units)
The Nurse Educator concentration will prepare students in curriculum design and development, teaching methodologies, educational needs assessment, and learner-centered theories and methods.
