Physician Assistant Studies, MSPAS

The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program will prepare entry level medical professionals to augment the physician (MD and DO) in providing medical and patient care responsibilities within the health care system. The program will encourage graduates to provide service to underserved populations. In support of the University’s mission, the program will produce students that are academically prepared, biblically rooted, globally minded and equipped to serve.

Additional Admissions Requirements


Admission standards for graduate studies at California Baptist University can be found in the admissions section of the University Catalog.  In addition, each candidate must meet the following requirements for this program:

  • Additional Grade Point Average
    • A minimum overall 3.2 GPA and science 3.0 GPA for acceptance
  • Prerequisite (completed with a “B-” or better)
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology with lab (I & II); OR a combination of courses covering all human systems (8 units/1 year)
    • General Chemistry with lab (I & II) (8 units/1 year); OR a combination of three separate courses in Organic, Inorganic, Biochemistry (12 units)
    • Microbiology with lab (3-4 units)
    • Genetics (2-3 units)
    • Psychology (General, Developmental, or Abnormal); (3-4 units per course)
    • Mathematics (College Algebra, Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Statistics); (3 units per course)
    • English/Writing (6-8 units/1 year)
    • Social Sciences/Humanities (9 units/3 courses)
  • Additional preferred prerequisites
    • Biochemistry
    • Molecular Biology
    • Medical Terminology
    • Statistics
  • Patient Care Hours
    • A minimum of 1,000 verifiable volunteer or paid hours

Program Requirements (116 units)


The Physician Assistant Studies program is a rigorous course of study that prepares graduates who are globally-minded and academically equipped, to provide quality health care in their communities and to underserved populations, in collaboration with other members of the health-care team, in a faith-based atmosphere.
