Commercial Performance, BM

The commercial performance major trains students to be agile and adaptable music performers in the 21st century, bridging performance, music technology, and music industry practices within a practice-oriented degree. The program incorporates a diverse range of musical genres, styles, and exploration of contemporary instrumentation. 

Traditional Major Program Requirements (85 units)


General Education Requirements (40-55 units)

The General Education requirements will follow the curriculum set forth for other University degree programs. Fifteen (15) units of G.E. requirements will be met through the specific coursework of the Commercial Performance major. See School of Performing Arts Undergraduate Handbook for details.

Upper Division Performance Requirements


Note


1Students must satisfy the Applied Music Proficiency requirements to enroll in upper-division applied study. They will typically complete this proficiency jury at the end of the fourth semester of applied study. Students will remain in the lower-division applied study until they successfully complete the proficiency jury.
