Music for Worship Arts and Ministry, BA

The Music for Worship Arts and Ministry major program is designed to prepare students for worship ministry in the highly eclectic culture of the modern evangelical church. The program is built to fully equip worship leaders/pastors to be musically excellent and stylistically versatile, proficient in pastoral and professional skills, and committed to the scriptural calling of servant leadership in the example of Christ. To earn a major in Music for Worship arts students must also declare and complete all requirements for the minor in Christian Ministries. The major and minor together is a ninety (90) unit program.

Note
*Piano Proficiency Requirements and Exemptions: Pianists who pass all fifteen (15) skills of Piano Proficiency (Division III) may be exempt from MUS 015 and 025 . Students must stay enrolled in Class Piano for Worship Arts and Commercial Music until Piano Proficiency is completed. **Students must satisfy the Applied Music Proficiency requirements to enroll in upper-division applied study. They will typically complete this proficiency jury at the end of the fourth semester of applied study. Students will remain in lower-division applied study until successfully completing the proficiency jury. Ensemble Requirements

Christian Studies Minor Requirements
Student must declare and complete all requirements for the Christian Studies minor, including the following courses: Christian Studies Courses: CST 110, 130, 350, 360*, and 370 Upper Division Elective Requirements (three units from the following): PHI 303, 324, 343, 353, 433 * MUS 332 - History of Music and Worship in the Church is an approved variance for CST 360 - Church History (3 units) in the Christian Studies minor. Optional Concentrations (12 units)
Students can earn an optional concentration in the following areas: Jazz Studies; Keyboard Collaborative Arts; Live Music Production (MD); Songwriting; Studio Production; Worship Tech Each optional concentration requires the completion of a minimum of twelve (12) distinct units beyond the major. Note: Music for Worship Arts and Ministry majors may not complete the Worship Arts concentration. Keyboard Collaborative Arts
