Additional Admission Requirements

Admission standards for graduate studies at California Baptist University can be found in the admissions section of the university catalog.  In addition, each candidate must meet the following requirements for this program:

• Additional Grade Point Average
  • A minimum overall 3.2 GPA and science 3.0 GPA for acceptance
• Prerequisite (completed with a “B-” or better)
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology with Lab (I & II); OR a combination of courses covering all human systems (8 units/1 year)
  • General Chemistry with Lab (I & II) (8 units/1 year); OR a combination of three separate courses in Organic, Inorganic, Biochemistry (12 units)
  • Microbiology with Lab (3-4 units)
  • Genetics (2-3 units)
  • Psychology (General, Developmental, or Abnormal)-(3-4 units/1 course)
  • Mathematics (College Algebra, Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Statistics)-(3 units/1 course)
  • English/Writing (6-8 units/1 year)
  • Social Sciences/Humanities (9 units/3 courses)
    
    Additional preferred prerequisites:
  • Biochemistry
  • Molecular Biology
  • Medical Terminology
  • Statistics
• Patient Care Hours
  • A minimum of 1,000 verifiable volunteer or paid hours

*Can be met by the completion of a combination of courses that cover all human systems.

** Can be met by the completion of a combination of Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Biochemistry.

*** Can be met by a score of three (3) or higher on the Advanced Placement (AP) exam.

Program Requirements (116 units)

The Physician Assistant Studies program is a rigorous course of study that prepares graduates who are globally-minded and academically equipped, to provide quality health care in their communities and to underserved populations, in collaboration with other members of the health-care team, in a faith-based atmosphere.
