California Baptist University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with three majors: Theatre, Music, and Music for Worship Arts and Ministry. The University offers a Bachelor of Music degree with the following majors: Commercial Performance, Composition for Stage and Screen, Instrumental Performance, Music Education, Piano Performance, Songwriting, Studio Production, and Vocal Performance. The School of Performing Arts offers three minors (Music, Theatre, and Worship Arts and Ministry), as well as eight concentrations, which may be added to most music majors to provide students with a secondary area of specialization.

The Collinsworth School of Performing Arts at California Baptist University is committed to inspiring students to the highest standards of craft and character, preparing them to impact the world through careers in the performing arts.

With an educational environment distinguished by vibrant, interactive teaching, a prolific performance culture, and an emphasis on developing artistic skill, spiritual sensitivities, and personal character, the School of Performing Arts at California Baptist University stands as a unique scholastic institution, dedicated to providing rigorous training in the performing arts to equip young artists for successful careers as performers, composers, actors, music educators, studio musicians, worship leaders, and songwriters.

Furthermore, the CBU School of Performing Arts believes in preparing high-caliber, versatile performing artists. While many institutions of higher education center their curriculum and experiences around a limited segment of the performing arts, CBU intentionally provides hands-on training in a multitude of musical styles, artistic experiences, and genres without compromise. In addition to its comprehensive focus on Western Art music, the music divisions intentionally blend folk and jazz styles, non-Western music, commercial music, studio and technical production, and modern and traditional church music to effectively prepare future artists for what awaits them in the modern marketplace of professional musicians. Likewise, the theatre arts division equips actors and technicians to excel in roles on and off stage in a variety of genres and theatrical presentations, both in small and large-scale performances.

The National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accredits CBU to offer an assortment of undergraduate and graduate degrees in music. The Collinsworth School is committed to the continued refinement and assessment of its educational opportunities as we strive to accomplish our mission of preparing the next generation of performance artists.
