Undergraduate Programs in Education, including credential pathways

The undergraduate programs in education are designed to equip individuals to become classroom teachers, instructional leaders, curriculum developers, early childhood advocates, and well-rounded individuals.

Preliminary teaching credential options:

The Elementary Education major allows candidates to complete subject matter and credential coursework. Candidates who successfully complete this program will be recommended for a California multiple subject preliminary teaching credential.

The Early Childhood Education major allows candidates to complete subject matter and credential coursework. Once final state approval is received, candidates who successfully complete this program will be recommended for a California PK-3 preliminary teaching credential. (State approval currently pending.)

The Single Subject Education major allows candidates to complete their credential coursework. Candidates should be enrolled in an appropriate content area major as their first major. Individuals who are not enrolled in an appropriate content area major may still be able to earn a single subject credential at the undergraduate level. Individuals in this category should meet with a School of Education advisor.

Non-credential degree programs:

The Early Childhood Studies major/minor prepares students for careers working with young children and their families in a variety of settings. Students can choose to complete this degree either online or in a traditional in-person format.

The School of Education offers an online degree in Liberal Studies. This degree provides students with a broad knowledge base. A degree in Liberal Studies can currently be used to meet subject matter competence in the state of California. Please contact a School of Education advisor for more information.

*California Baptist University’s credential programs are approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Credential programs are subject to revision at any time by state or federal law.
