The Department of Aviation Science offers programs that prepare students for professional careers in the aviation industry with in-depth knowledge in areas such as airspace, laws and regulations, labor issues, leadership, safety and security, aerodynamics, meteorology, international aviation environment, human factors, environmental issues, and airline management issues and practices are covered. The goal is to graduate aviation professionals who think critically, communicate effectively, and lead ethically with excellence built on a strong Christian foundation.

The Aviation Flight program is designed for students with little or no flight experience who desire a career as a professional aviator. Students can graduate with an Aviation Flight Bachelor of Science degree and the opportunity to obtain a private pilot certificate, instrument rating, commercial pilot certificate, multi-engine rating, certified flight instructor certificate, certified flight instrument instructor certificate, and multi-engine instructor certificate. The Aviation Flight program has concentrations in Commercial, Military, Missionary, and Unmanned Aerial Systems. Potential careers include airline pilot, air cargo pilot, military pilot, missionary pilot, law enforcement pilot, state aviation department pilot, air taxi or charter pilot, business or corporate pilot, unmanned aerial system operator and observer, and flight instructor.

The Aviation Management program is designed for students who desire to pursue a non-flight aviation career. Students can graduate with an Aviation Management Bachelor of Science degree and an in-depth aviation business foundation. The Aviation Management program has concentrations in Aerospace Technology, Airport Management and Operations, Dispatch, Flight Operations, and Logistics and Operations. Graduates are prepared for careers in airline management, airport management, fixed base operations management, aviation safety and security, dispatch, and aviation consulting. In addition, there is a minor in Aviation Management for those in the Aviation Flight degree who would like an even greater depth of understanding in management of professional aviation.

Aviation Dispatch is both a concentration within the Aviation Management Bachelor of Science degree program and a stand-alone minor. This program is designed for students who desire to play a key role in safety of flight as a licensed FAA dispatcher. Students can graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management or Aviation Flight with a minor in dispatch prepared to serve as a crew scheduler or a dispatcher with airlines or business aviation.

Unmanned Aerial Systems is both a concentration within the Aviation Flight Bachelor of Science degree program and a stand-alone minor. Whether serving in the military, as a government contractor, or in commercial applications, graduates will be prepared to enter this rapidly evolving segment of the aviation industry with the knowledge of these remotely piloted systems and the pilot qualifications necessary to fly UAS within the national airspace system.

All incoming Aviation Flight majors will be initially enrolled as preflight majors. After the first semester and once the student has decided which concentration they want to pursue, the student can declare Aviation Flight with a specific concentration. The program is designed to allow a student to switch to the Aviation Management major even after a year with the ability to complete The Aviation Management Bachelor of Science degree in the three remaining years. For those considering the UAS or military concentration, there are additional requirements that need to be met in order to declare either of those concentrations.
